Biographical Information[edit]
Ryan Ellis has been a minor league player and coach.
Ellis was picked by the Montréal Expos in the 28th round of the 2000 amateur draft. He hit .198/.284/.238 for the Vermont Expos that year as a backup infielder. Returning to Vermont in 2001, he batted .234/.307/.321, while playing every position at least once. He then went on to the independent leagues as a second baseman for the Washington Wild Things, hitting .260/.307/.322 in 2002. A player-coach in 2003, he improved to .294/.354/.373 in 31 games, then was 2 for 4 in the same role in 2004. He was a full-time coach in 2005.
In 2006, Ryan became first base coach for the Norfolk Tides in mid-season. He coached for the 2007 Binghamton Mets, 2008 Kingsport Mets and 2009-2010 Savannah Sand Gnats. Ellis got his first managerial post with Savannah in 2011.
