Biographical Information[edit]
Rudy Laskowski was an infielder and catcher for 17 seasons in the minor leagues from 1932 to 1940, from 1946 to 1948 and from 1950 to 1954. In 1,422 games, he hit .284 with 227 doubles, 24 triples and 59 home runs. Perhaps his best season was in 1937 with the Tyler Trojans. That year, he hit .307 with 14 home runs, 165 hits and 33 doubles - the first three of which were career highs. He later managed in the minors and served as the GM of his teams from 1952 to 1954. Laskowski then signed as a scout for the Kansas City A's in 1957. He became a Houston Astros scout in the 1970s.
Laskowski served in the Army during World War II. He later owned a bowling alley in Chicago, which caused him to resign his managerial posts at least twice (1948 and 1951) so he could go back and tend to the business.
