He had a few seasons of note, especially 1949, when he hit .303/.392/.509 with 19 home runs and 82 RBI in 120 games for the Macon Peaches. He followed that with 10 home runs in 1950. He reached that mark again in 1952. In 1955 and 1956, his final two campaigns, he hit 13 and 11 home runs for the Oklahoma City Indians, respectively. Overall, he had at least 663 hits and 92 home runs over 10 seasons.

He briefly managed the Indians in 1955 and 1956. In 1955, he replaced Tommy Tatum (14-32) partway through the year, went 0-2, then was replaced by Rudy Laskowski (56-56), who finished the campaign. The next year, he replaced Laskowski (11-22), went 8-12, then was replaced by Jodie Beeler (29-72) who finished out the year.

He served in the U.S. Navy Air Force during World War II.
