Biographical Information

Rubén Galindo has pitched in the minors and for the Colombian national team.

He pitched 7 1/3 shutout innings in the 2016 U-15 Baseball World Cup, allowing only two hits but walking seven. Only Liván Chaviano had more innings with a 0.00 ERA at the event. He started his minor league career in A ball, going 5-4 with a 4.57 ERA for the Lake Elsinore Storm in the San Diego Padres chain. He allowed two runs in three innings in the 2021 U-23 Baseball World Cup. Returning to the Storm in '22, he slipped to a 5.67 ERA but still went 5-3 with 77 K in 66 2/3 innings.

He was 0-1 with a 3.50 ERA in the 2022 U-23 Baseball World Cup, losing to Japan and Ren Tomida. He tied for 7th in the tourney with eleven strikeouts. He next suited up for Colombia in the 2023 World Baseball Classic, a much bigger stage. He made two appearances, one behind team leaders Julio Vivas and Jhon Romero. His first game, he succeeded Jasier Herrera with a 6-3 deficit in the 8th against Great Britain, one on and one out. He allowed a Darnell Sweeney double then threw a wild pitch to make it 7-3 but recovered to strike out Jaden Rudd and get Anfernee Seymour on a pop-up. In the 8th, he plunked Chavez Young but picked off the speedster, then whiffed Trayce Thompson and Matt Koperniak. His other assignment was even tougher, facing eventual finalist and defending champion Team USA with a spot in the second round at stake. Colombia had a surprising 2-1 lead in the 5th when he relieved Romero. He walked Will Smith, threw a wild pitch then got Trea Turner swinging. Mookie Betts singled and took second on the throw in. Herrera replaced him but Mike Trout singled in both runners, handing Galindo the loss to Kendall Graveman and the US.
