Biographical Information[edit]

When the Philippines played in their first Baseball World Cup in 2001, Roel Empacis split right field duties with Andro Cuyugan. Empacis was 0 for 8 with a walk and one assist. He was 1 for 4 with a walk as a part-timer for them in the 2002 Asian Games; his lone hit came against champion South Korea. He was on the Filipino squad in the 2003 Asian Championship and won Gold with them in the 2005 Southeast Asian Games. He was the main Philippines right fielder in the 2006 Intercontinental Cup, going 2 for 17 with a walk and a steal. He played in the 2006 Asian Games. Empacis went 0 for 4 in the 2007 Asian Championship and won Silver in the 2007 Southeast Asian Games and Gold in the 2011 Southeast Asian Games. He coached for the Philippines in the 2013 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers and 2017 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers.
