Biographical Information[edit]

Robertas Vilimas has played in Austria and Germany and for the Lithuanian national team. His twin brother Kestas Vilimas has been a teammate. [1]

He was 0-2 with a 7.30 ERA in the 2011 European Junior Championship and hit .111/.333/.111 with five walks in six games, fielding .826. He lost to Czech Republic and Belgium. He tied Nikita Lobanov, Alexandre Roy and Kasparas Bareika for the most losses and tied for fifth in errors. [2] He was 0-1 with a 6.75 ERA in the 2012 European Championship U21, going 0 for 10. He walked a tourney-high 11 but played error-free defense this time. [3] He attended the MLB European Academy that year. [4] In the 2013 B-Level European Championship, he lost to Russia and Lobanov, fanning nine in six innings but allowing seven walks. He gave up three runs. He was 2 for 7 with a run on the event. He tied Felix Zimmerle and Tom Enright for fourth in the event in batters whiffed. [5]

Vilimas hit a three-run homer off Israel's Tal Erel in the 2016 European Championship U21, batting .313/.389/.563 with six RBI in four games but allowing four unearned runs in 2/3 IP, losing to Erel. He was 8th in the event in average, 3rd in slugging and tied his brother for the lead in RBI and homers, the twins being identical there. [6] He signed with Austria's Feldkirch Cardinals for 2017, going 1-3 with a 8.54 ERA and 30 BB in 26 1/3 IP while hitting .289/.382/.447. His three triples were tied for third in the Austrian Baseball League, behind Dominik Talir and Sammy Hackl. [7] He lost to Ukraine and Austria in the 2017 European Championship U23, posting a 9.26 ERA. He was 0 for 7 at the plate. [8] He was 1 for 7 with 4 walks and 2 runs in the 2017 B-Level European Championship and lost a 3-2 duel to the Ukrainian national team and Heorhii Hvrytishvili; he allowed two hits but walked six; all three runs were unearned. He tied for second in the event in walks drawn (two behind Tomáš Biskorovajny), while tying for most walks issued. The only pitchers with a 0.00 ERA in more innings were Andrei Lobanov and Marius Balandis. [9] Lithuania won; under the old format, they would have gotten a spot in the 2019 European Championship. Using a new format, they went to the 2018 European Championship Playoff instead.

In the 2018 European Championship Playoff, he was 1 for 1 with a walk and had an odd pitching line over two games (3 2/3 IP, 4 H, 7 R, 0 ER, 6 BB, 3 K) as Lithuania fell to Austria in both contests (he was not involved in either decision). [10] Signing with Germany's Ulm Falcons for 2019, he hit .085/.156/.119 and was 0-5 with a 13.34 ERA. He tied for 7th in the Bundesliga-1 in losses. He played the outfield when not pitching. [11] He struggled against Slovakia in the [[2019 B-Level European Championship (1 IP, 2 H, 5 R, 1 ER, 5 BB, 3 K) before Eimantas Žičkus relieved; Slovakia rallied to win.
