Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Robert Morey began his professional career in the Florida/Miami Marlins minor league system in 2010.

He was originally drafted by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in the 29th round of the 2007 amateur draft out of high school, a couple picks ahead of Andrew Cashner, but did not sign. He was then taken by the Marlins in the 5th round of the 2010 amateur draft, between Justin Grimm and Heath Hembree, and signed. Joel Matthews was the signing scout.

He worked his way up the minor league ladder and reached Triple-A, albeit briefly, for the first time in 2013. He made 3 appearances, including 1 start, for the New Orleans Zephyrs and went 1-0. In 10 innings, he allowed only 9 hits, but walked 8 batters and struck out only 4. The year before, he was 8-3 with a 3.84 ERA in 18 games (16 starts) for the Jupiter Hammerheads.

He began 2014 with the Double-A Jacksonville Suns and also played for the GCL Marlins and New Orleans Zephyrs, going a combined 4-4 with a 4.46 ERA in 18 games (12 starts). He wrapped up his career in 2015 after going 2-7 with a 4.55 mark in 22 games (14 starts) for New Orleans. He played with the Brother Elephants of the Chinese Professional Baseball League in 2016, posting a 6.55 ERA in 68.2 innings.

He went 27-32 with a 4.63 ERA in 119 games (100 starts) over six minor league seasons.
