Biographical Information[edit]
Rick Steed pitched in the minor leagues and the TML.
Steed was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 5th round of the 1989 Amateur Draft, and he recorded a 3.38 ERA in 7 games for the Medicine Hat Blue Jays in his first season. He went 3-6 with a 3.07 ERA for the St. Catharines Blue Jays in 1990, and he had a 12-13 record with a 4.03 ERA for the Myrtle Beach Hurricanes in 1991. Steed was 6-6 with a 3.81 ERA for the Dunedin Blue Jays in 1992, but he slumped to 4-9 with a 5.03 ERA in 1993. He was turned into a reliever in 1994, and he recorded a 2.66 ERA with 6 saves in 30 appearances in Dunedin. He then notched 9 saves with a 3.69 ERA in 27 games for the Knoxville Smokies in 1995, and his ERA was 3.72 in 31 games with the Syracuse Chiefs.
Moving to the Atlanta Braves in 1996, Steed had a 6-9 record with a 3.92 ERA for the Greenville Braves. He then went 6-1 with a 2.79 RRA for the High Desert Mavericks in 1997, and the New York Mets signed him. Steed was 3-7 with a 4.36 ERA for the Norfolk Tides in 1998, and he also 9 games with a 2.74 ERA for the Binghamton Mets. The Taichung Agan signed him in 1999, and he was 5-5 with a 3.77 ERA. He went 2-3 with a 3.25 ERA for the Somerset Patriots after leaving Taiwan, and he had a 9-10 record with a 4.59 ERA in 2000. He had a 4.80 ERA with a 7-7 record in 25 games in 2001, then he announced his retirement.
