Biographical Information[edit]

Ricardo Pinto pitched for the World Team in the 2016 Futures Game. He made his major league debut with the Philadelphia Phillies a little under a year later. In 25 games, he went 1-2, 7.89. He then spent all of 2018 in the minors and came up for two games with the Tampa Bay Rays in 2019, giving up 4 runs in 2 1/3 innings.

He was named the MVP of the 2024 Caribbean Series after helping to lead the Tiburones de La Guaira to the first title in team history. He ended the tournament with a dominant performance in the championship games against Tigres del Licey on February 9th, pitching scoreless ball for 5 2/3 innings to earn the win. Following his excellent winter league performance, he made it back to the majors after not having pitched at the level since his brief stint with Tampa Bay in 2019. Back with the Phillies at the start of the 2024 season, he got off to a rough start as he gave up 13 runs on 18 hits spread out over 9 2/3 innings in his first five appearances in April. He did pick up his first career save in his first outing of the year, on April 2nd when he pitched the final four innings of a 9-4 win over the Cincinnati Reds. After tossing a scoreless frame on April 9th, it was all downhill, however, as he allowed 10 runs in 4 2/3 innings in his next three appearances, raising his ERA to 11.17.
