Reinaldo Cordeiro

Reinaldo Cordeiro managed the Fortuna Sports Club to amateur titles in Cuba in 1936 and 1937. He coached for the Cuban national team when they won the 1938 Central American and Caribbean Games. He led Cuba to the 1940 Amateur World Series title; among those he managed that year were Connie Marrero and Nap Reyes, two future major leaguers. Cordeiro later managed in the Cuban Winter League. He guided Almendares to a title in 1944-1945 at 32-16, but fell to 29-36 in 1945-1946. He served as the club's GM in 1946-1947. In 1948-1949, he replaced Gil Torres as skipper of Marianao. He was 35-37 as Marianao's manager in 1949-1950, then was replaced by Dolf Luque during the 1950-1951 season. He later coached for Almendares, in 1953-1954 and 1960-1961. He was a coach for the Havana Sugar Kings in the minor leagues as well. When Havana moved out of Cuba and became the Jersey City Jerseys during the 1960 season, Cordeiro joined skipper Tony Castaño in staying in Cuba. His brother Agustín Cordeiro played for the national team at one point.
