Biographical Information[edit]

Reggie Williams is the son of Reggie Williams Sr. and the brother of JaDamion Williams. Reggie was picked by the Texas Rangers in the 32nd round of the 2009 amateur draft out of high school. The next year, the St. Louis Cardinals chose him in the 10th round of the 2010 amateur draft. His brother JaDamion was taken just four picks later.

Reggie hit .269/.336/.381 in his pro debut with the Johnson City Cardinals. He struck out 55 in 134 at-bats. Despite not hitting a double, he had six triples, tied for second among Cardinals farmhands. He was 6th in the Appalachian League in triples. He also had five assists in center field. Baseball America named him the fastest baserunner in the Cardinals chain (though he had only tried to steal 4 times in 2010, 3 of them successfully). In 2011, he played for the GCL Cardinals (.300/.417/.400 in 12 G) and Batavia Muckdogs (.306/.333/.472 in 14 G), striking out 15 in 46 of at-bats overall. He also was just 1-for-5 in steal attempts. After the season, he was handed a 50-game suspension for a positive test for Methylhexaneamine, a performance-enhancing substance.
