Biographical Information[edit]

Starting pitcher Rainy Lara was signed by the New York Mets on October 31, 2009 and began his professional career in 2010.

With the DSL Mets his rookie year, Lara went 4-2 with a 1.97 ERA in 14 games (12 starts). In 2011, he was 1-2 with a 2.22 ERA in 16 relief appearances for the GCL Mets and in 2012, he went 8-3 with a 2.91 ERA in 12 starts for the Brooklyn Cyclones, striking out 77 batters in 68 innings. Between the Savannah Sand Gnats and St. Lucie Mets in 2013, Lara was 8-7 with a 2.85 ERA in 22 games (21 starts). Comparatively speaking, he had a bit of a hiccup in 2014 -- his first experience in the mid-minors -- when he went 6-4 with a 4.31 ERA in 20 starts for the Double-A Binghamton Mets. He began 2015 with Binghamton.
