Rafael Jozefa Sr.

Rafael Jozefa Sr. was a top player from the Netherlands Antilles in the 1970s and 1980s, setting the home run record in the top league in Curacao. His son Rafaël Jozefa later played in the Antilles and in the Netherlands proper. Some sources list Jozefa Sr.'s name as Josefa.

Jozefa was in the 1970 Amateur World Series. He was named the Best Hitter and Most Spectacular Player of the 1972 Haarlemse Honkbalweek and was in the 1973 Amateur World Series. He won the Carl Angelo Award in the 1982 Haarlem Baseball Week and played in the 1982 Central American and Caribbean Games.

He hit .357/.413/.619 with 13 RBI in the 1984 Amateur World Series, posting a better OPS than the USA's Barry Bonds among others. He played in the 1986 Amateur World Series and 1986 Central American and Caribbean Games. He hit .428 in the 1987 Pan American Games, tying him for eighth in the event. In the 1988 Baseball World Cup, the veteran slugger hit .250/.429/.250 with 10 walks in 11 games while serving mostly at DH. He tied for 4th in the event in walks, behind Ty Griffin, Fu-Lien Wu and Ted Wood.
