Biographical Information[edit]

Raúl Carrillo has pitched in the minors and for the Mexican national team.

Carrillo debuted in 2010 with the Saraperos de Saltillo, giving up 8 walks and 9 runs in 3 innings, going 0-1. The teenager returned in 2011 and again was overmatched (7 H, 5 R in 2 IP). He improved in 2012 (5.14 ERA, 1.33 WHIP in 17 G). By 2013, he was pitching regularly (6-3, 6.34). That winter, he was 0-2 with a 16.88 ERA for the Naranjeros de Hermosillo in his Mexican Pacific League.

He was 3-0 with a 6.33 ERA for the 2014 Saraperos then moved to the Olmecas de Tabasco (0-1, 3.75 in 7 G). In '15, he pitched for Tabasco (2-1, 7.47 in 21 G) and the Delfines de Ciudad del Carmen (2-1, 5.81 in 6 G). During 2016, he posted a 5-5, 3.88 record for Saltillo. In the winter, he was 0-4 with a save and a 4.78 ERA for the Mayos de Navojoa. He split the summer of 2017 between the Generales de Durango (after the Delfines moved and were renamed), going 0-1 with a 2.51 ERA and the Saraperos (4-5, 4.58). In winter ball, he was 4-6 with a 3.89 ERA for Navojoa. Only Jesus Sanchez had more losses in the LMP.

He was 2-2 with a 6.15 ERA for Saltillo in 2018 and 1-4 with a 4.41 ERA that winter for the Mayos. He was not only picked for Mexico's squad for the 2019 Pan American Games Qualifier but started their opener, against host Brazil. The first batter he faced, Vítor Ito, reached, and Tiago Magalhães hit a two-run homer with one out but he settled down and allowed no more runs over the next 4 2/3 IP before Juan Robles relieved him. Mexico just missed out on a spot in the 2019 Pan American Games. [1]
