Gerardo Carrillo pitched in the minors. He is the brother of Raúl Carrillo.
He was originally signed by the Los Angeles Dodgers. In 2017, he was 5-2 with a 2.79 ERA for the DSL Dodgers 2. Coming stateside the next summer, he pitched well for the AZL Dodgers (2-0, Sv, 0.82 in 4 G) and Great Lakes Loons (2-1, 1.65 in 9 G). He was 5-9 with a 5.44 ERA for the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes. In the Arizona Fall League, though, he was 0-2 with a 2.22 ERA for the Glendale Desert Dogs.
The 2020 minor league season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He began 2021 3-2 with a 4.25 ERA and 70 K in 59 1/3 IP for the Tulsa Drillers. He was then dealt with Josiah Gray, Keibert Ruiz and Donovan Casey to the Washington Senators for Max Scherzer and Trea Turner. After the deal, he slumped to 0-5, 5.59 for the Harrisburg Senators. He split 2022 between Harrisburg (1-1, 11.32 in 10 G), the Wilmington Blue Rocks (1-0, 2 Sv, 3.60 in 9 G) and FCL Nationals (1 R in 3 IP).
That winter, he was 0-1 with a 3.86 ERA for his hometown Charros de Jalisco. He pitched 2 1/3 shutout innings for Harrisburg in 2023 then allowed four runs in 2 2/3 IP for the 2023-2024 Charros. In December of 2023 Carillo moved to the Texas Rangers organization, but in late March 2024, he was placed on the full-season injured list by the Round Rock Express [1].
