Biographical Information[edit]

Juan Robles has pitched in the minors and for the Mexican national team.

He was signed by Houston Astros scouts Oz Ocampo, Carlos Alfonso and Francis Mojica in July 2014. [1] He made his pro debut in 2015, appearing for the DSL Astros Orange (1-1, 1.49 in 9 G), GCL Astros (1-1, 1.80 in 6 G) and Quad Cities River Bandits (5.40 ERA in 2 G). That winter, he pitched for his hometown Mayos de Navojoa, with a 2-2, 4.02 record and one save.

In 2016, he was with the GCL Astros (1-1, 2.29 in 6 G) and Greeneville Astros (Sv, 0 R in 7 IP). The next year, he was with Greeneville (1-0, 5.19 in 2 G) and the Tri-City ValleyCats (1-2, 4.64 in 12 G), striking out 61 in 51 1/3 innings. He opened 2018 with Quad Cities (2-0, 4.05 in 3 G) then pitched briefly for Tri-City (0-1, 8.22 in 2 G) before being let go by Houston. Returning to Mexico, he pitched for the Diablos Rojos del Mexico (1-0, Sv, 4.26 in 18 G). In winter ball for the first time in three years, he was 1-0 with a 4.24 ERA in 15 outings for the Mayos.

Robles was with Mexico for the 2019 Pan American Games Qualifier. He got into one game, Mexico's 13-2 rout of host Brazil. He relieved Raúl Carrillo when the game was still close, 4-2. He pitched three hitless, walkless, scoreless innings, fanning three, as Mexico built their lead. Juan Noriega then closed it out. [2]
