Biographical Information[edit]

Rômulo Shindo was on the Brazilian team in the 2005 World Youth Championship. He led the 2006 U-16 Pan American Championship with 16 strikeouts as a pitcher. In the 2008 Americas Baseball Cup, he was used as a DH, CF and P. He was 2 for 7 with a walk at the plate and had two putouts and one assist in the field. He pitched 1 2/3 shutout innings (2 H, 2 K) against Puerto Rico in 7-3 loss, working the most scoreless innings for Brazil that day. He also helped Brazil win Bronze in the 2011 South American Championship. In the 2013 South American Championship, he got the nod in the Gold Medal game against Argentina. He dueled ably with Ezequiel Cufré and led 1-0 entering the 9th; he was one strike away from a shutout but tired. Lucas Nakandakare reached, Exequiel Talevi pinch-ran and stole and Martín Mondino drove in the tying run. In the 10th, Jean Tomé relieved and Brazil lost. He was also with Brazil for a Silver in the 2015 South American Championship, beating defending champion Argentina in the semifinals in relief of Felipe Fukuda.
