The Portsmouth A's won the Ohio-Indiana League championship in 1949 , beating out the Springfield (OH) Giants by a 4 1/2 game margin. The A's had lost the 1948 title by one-half game to the Zanesville Dodgers club. The 1950 team finished 7th in the race, 42 1/2 games back. Portsmouth did not field a team in the 1951 Ohio-Indiana league.
