Pinar del Río played in both seasons of the short-lived Copa de la Revolución. In 1996, they 18-12 to win the western league but fell to Santiago de Cuba 4 games to 1 in the finals. They were led by batting champion Yobal Dueñas (.475), home run and RBI leader Daniel Lazo (14, 42) and strikeout king Pedro Luis Lazo (55).

In 1997, they were 21-9 to again win their league but lost to Santiago de Cuba 4 games to 2 in the finals. Juan Carlos Linares led the league with 46 hits while Lazo led the league in record (6-0) and strikeouts (42). Abel Madera led with a 0.70 ERA.
