Copa de la Revolución
The Copa de la Revolución was a short-lived league in Cuba, designed to fill the summer space to complement the winter Cuban Serie Nacional. It replaced the Selective Series in 1996 - star performers that season included batting champion Yobal Dueñas, ERA leader Ormari Romero and strikeout king Pedro Luis Lazo. Santiago de Cuba won the title at 27-8.
In 1997, Santiago de Cuba again won the title, at 26-10. Gabriel Pierre led in homers and RBI, Javier Mendez led in average and Lazo again led in strikeouts; he tied Romero for the win lead.
