Biographical Information[edit]

Pedro García has pitched in the minors and for the Colombian national team.

García was with Georgia Gwinnett for the 2019 NAIA College World Series. He was signed by the Cincinnati Reds in 2019, and he pitched 14 1/3 shutout innings for the AZL Reds while having another 1 1/3 shutout innings with the Dayton Dragons in his first year. The coronavirus then shut down the minor leagues, and he recorded a 7.71 ERA in 8 games for the Atenienses de Manati in the winter. Garcia's ERA was 1.50 in 4 games with the Daytona Tortugas in 2021, and he was 7-4 with a 4.20 ERA and 3 saves in 28 games for the Dragons. He had a 1.98 ERA in 18 games for the Cardenales de Lara that winter. Garcia notched 12 saves with a solid 2.17 ERA in 40 games for the AA Chattanooga Lookouts, but he allowed 8 runs in 6 2/3 innings for the Louisville Bats. He was second in the Southern League in saves, ten shy of Eric Torres. Among Reds farmhands, he was 5th in appearances (between Pedro Payano and Kyle Dowdy) and third in saves (after Fernando Cruz and Donovan Benoit). He then pitched 11 games with a 7.71 ERA for Lara in the winter.

The Maracaibo native then represented Colombia in the 2023 World Baseball Classic. He relieved Reiver Sanmartin in their opener against Mexico, but he gave up a RBI single to Alex Verdugo and got the blown save. He then retired the next four batters he faced, and Colombia won the game thanks to Luis Urías's error. Garcia then succeeded Rio Gomez against Canada, and he allowed a run and 2 walks in 1 1/3 innings while fanning 3. Colombia was eliminated in the group stage. Garcia struggled in 2023 as he was 4-4 with a 5.84 ERA and 6 saves for the Lookouts, and his ERA was 7.62 in 10 games for the Bats. He tied Silvino Bracho and Alan Busenitz for third among Reds minor leaguers in games pitched. He recorded a 5.11 ERA in 10 games for the Cardenales in the winter, and the Reds released him after he surrendered 3 runs in an inning in 2024 for the Bats.
