Biographical Information[edit]

Patrick Lawson was a minor league pitcher.

Lawson was twice All-State in high school. He was 3-2 with two saves in 2008 at Middle Georgia College then transferred to UNC-Charlotte. In 2009, he was 6-3 with a 6.15 ERA. He was superb in 2010, going 4-0 with 8 saves, a 0.61 ERA and 37 strikeouts in 29 1/3 IP to win All-Atlantic-10 Conference honors. The Detroit Tigers signed him as an undrafted free agent; the scout was Grant Brittain. He went 3-3 with a 2.93 ERA and .229 opponent average for the 2010 Connecticut Tigers but was let go the next spring. For 2012, he signed with the Heidenheim Heideköpfe. He debuted on March 31, allowing six runs in six innings but still beating the Bad Homburg Hornets. For the year, he was 4-4 with a 4.91 ERA with 68 strikeouts and 44 walks in 66 innings. He was 7th in the Bundesliga-1 South in strikeouts, 4th in walks and 4th in wild pitches (11). For 2013, he remained in Europe, signing with the Bern Cardinals. He lost their first two games of the 2013 European Cup, becoming the first Ligue Nationale A pitcher to get a decision in a European Cup game.
