Biographical Information

Oswaldo Navarro is an infielder who played a couple of season in the majors.

Navarro was signed by scout Emilio Carrasquel for the Seattle Mariners in August 2001. He debuted with the 2002 Aguirre club, hitting .261/?/.311 in the Venezuelan Summer League. In 2003, he hit .258/.302/.318 for the Everett AquaSox and stole 16 bases in 19 tries. He led Northwest League shortstops in fielding percentage (.937) and putouts (118); Baseball America named him the #16 prospect in the Northwest League.

In 2004, Oswaldo moved over to second base. He struggled with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (.211/.248/.295 in 40 games) and returned to Everett, where he hit .273/.331/.393, hitting 27 doubles in 68 games and going 17 for 21 in steal attempts. During the 2005 season, Navarro solved full-season A ball. Back with Wisconsin, he batted .269/.329/.393. He hit .243/.283/.351 with the Cardenales de Lara in winter play.

At age 21, Navarro continued his rise through the Mariners organization. He hit .267/.371/.335 for the San Antonio Missions and .246/.314/.328 for the Tacoma Rainiers. He got a September call-up to Seattle in 2006 and went 2 for 3 at the plate. His base-stealing was off drastically from prior seasons. Baseball America rated him the top defensive shortstop in the Texas League. In winter ball, he batted .300/.349/.325 in 24 games for Lara. However, he did not return to the major leagues over the next few season, and aft the 2009 season, he signed as a free agent with the Houston Astros. He did play 14 games for them in 2010 but hit .050 and spent of the year in the minors. He joined the New York Mets in 2012 but did not return to the Show.
