Biographical Information[edit]

Osamu Yonemura played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 7 years.

Yonemura was drafted by the Hankyu Braves in the 6th round of the 1977 NPB draft, and he stayed in the minors for his first five seasons. He hit .317/.338/.524 in 91 games in 1983, but he then struggled in 1984 as he went 1-for-14 in that season. Yonemura then returned in the minors in 1985, and he recorded a .329/.402/.493 batting line in 1986. He went 8-for-42 in 1987, and he announced his retirement after the 1988 season. Yonemura then coached the Orix BlueWave/Orix Buffaloes from 1991 to 2010, and he went to the Rakuten Golden Eagles from 2012 to 2017. He returned to Orix as their minor league batting coach from 2018 to 2019, and he coached North Asia University Meioh High School from 2020 to 2022 and North Asia University from 2023 to 2024.

Overall, Yonemura hit .266/.330/.409 with 54 hits and 7 homers in 7 seasons in NPB.
