Biographical Information[edit]

Orv Franchuk was a scout for the Cincinnati Reds from 1977-1984 and a scout and hitting coach in the California Angels system in 1988-1994. He coached the Boise Hawks in 1990-1991 and 1993 (at least). Moving to the Oakland A's chain, he was the hitting coach for the Edmonton Trappers in 1995-1997, roving hitting and catching coordinator in 1998-2001, and manager for the Vancouver Canadians in 2002. Orv was then Minor League hitting coordinator in the Boston Red Sox (2003-2006) and Houston Astros systems (2007-2008). He was named hitting coach for the San Antonio Missions for 2009. He was the Portland Beavers hitting coach in 2010. In 2011, he was named manager of the Edmonton Capitals. Franchuk returned to O.B. in 2013 as coach of the Chattanooga Lookouts.

In addition, Franchuk was a coach for the Canadian National Team at the 1978 Amateur World Series, 1981 Intercontinental Cup and 2007 Baseball World Cup.
