Biographical Information[edit]

Orlando Trias pitched seven seasons in the minors, peaking at AA. He once led his league in wins.

Trias debuted in 2003 with Cocorote (0-3, 5.27) and the DSL Blue Jays (4-0, 2.40). In 2004, he went 9-3 with a 1.80 ERA for the DSL Blue Jays. He came to the US in 2005 with the Auburn Doubledays, going 4-7 with a 3.89 ERA. He tied for second in the New York-Penn League in losses, one behind Mario Peña. He was 1-0 for the Leones del Caracas in the Venezuelan Winter League, with two runs in four innings. He had a 1-0, 1.86 record in the postseason. In '06, he was 13-8 with a 3.82 ERA for the Dunedin Blue Jays, leading the Florida State League in wins (one ahead of runner-up Chase Wright). He tied Mike MacDonald for the most wins in the Toronto chain. In winter ball, he struggled for Caracas (1-2, 10.69, 29 H, 10 BB in 16 IP). He was again better in the postseason (0-1, 5.06) than in the regular season.

In the summer of 2007, Orlando pitched for Dunedin (6-7, 4.03) and the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (1-1, 5.79). With the Leones, he went 1-0 with a 6.00 ERA in 2007-2008. Let go by Toronto, he split 2008 between the Ottawa Rapides (1-4, 5.52) and Les Capitales de Quebec (8-2, 3.18). Late in the year, the Quebec hurler tossed the second Canadian-American Association no-hitter (following Aaron Myers), shutting down the Nashua Pride with 4 walks and 4 strikeouts. He tied for 9th in the league in wins.

Trias finished his VWL career in 2008-2009 by pitching poorly for Caracas (1-1, 8.76, 25 H in 12 1/3 IP). He was also poor with the 2009 Les Capitales (0-1, 6.14) to end his career. He had gone 37-29 with a 3.41 ERA in 103 games in the affiliated minors, 9-7 with a 4.16 ERA in 20 starts in the independent leagues and 4-3 with a 8.05 ERA in 20 games in the Venezuelan Winter League.
