Biographical Information[edit]
Oddanier Mosqueda has pitched in the minors and for the Venezuelan national team.
Mosqueda was signed in July 2015 by Boston Red Sox scouts Rolando Pino and Manuel Padron. [1] He was 2-2 with a save and a 2.36 ERA for the 2016 DSL Red Sox 1, fanning 54 and allowing only 26 hits in 42 IP. He fell to 0-5, 7.38 while moving to the rotation with the GCL Red Sox the next year. He tied for third in the Dominican Summer League in losses.
Moving up to the Lowell Spinners and returning to the bullpen in 2018, he was 3-1 with a save and a 2.84 ERA, whiffing 40 in 39 innings and allowing a .171 average. He was third among New York-Penn League relievers in K/9 and lowest opponent average. [2] He made his Venezuelan Winter League debut with the Caribes de Anzoátegui, going 0-1 with a 8.31 ERA. He was 2-2 with two saves and a 3.29 ERA for the Greenville Drive in 2019, striking out 69 in 52 innings, but was limited to 27 games due to biceps and shoulder injuries. [3] The 2020 minor league season was then wiped out by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The slender southpaw was 0-1 with a save and a 4.50 ERA for the Caribes in 2020-2021. He began '21 back with Greenville and was 1-0 with a 3.86 ERA after six games. He then joined Venezuela for the Americas Olympic Qualifier. In his debut, he relieved Enmanuel De Jesús (minors02)Enmanuel De Jesús in the 5th with a 4-0 lead against Canada (both teams entered the game 2-0). He cruised through two innings, walking Jesse Hodges but then getting Jonathan Malo to hit into a double play and fanning Wes Darvill. In the 6th, he struck out Jacob Robson, got Eric Wood on a fly and whiffed Daniel Pinero. Harold Chirino then relieved him in the 7th; Mosqueda got the victory. [4]
