Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Nick Wells was a third-round selection by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 2014 amateur draft, out of a high school in Virginia. The scout was Doug Witt. He made his professional debut that season with the GCL Blue Jays, where he was 1-3, 5.71 in 11 games. In 2015, he moved to the Bluefield Blue Jays of the Appalachian League where his record was 1-2, 4.78 in 7 starts at the time he was traded to the Seattle Mariners on July 31st. Joining him in the trade was his teammate with Bluefield (and in the Gulf Coast League the previous season), Jake Brentz as well as AAA reliever Rob Rasmussen, in return for veteran major league reliever Mark Lowe.

On May 4, 2019, he was traded to the Washington Nationals for pitcher Austin Adams.
