Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Nick Nastrini was taken by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 4th round of the 2021 amateur draft; his signing bonus was $497,500. Between the ACL Dodgers and Rancho Cucamonga Quakes in 2021, he posted a 1.93 ERA in 7 starts, going without a decision. In 14 innings, he struck out 32 batters, an average of 20.6 per nine innings. He began 2022 with the High-A Great Lakes Loons and went 5-3, 3.86 in 21 starts before being promoted to the Tulsa Drillers of the AA Texas League. In another 6 starts, he went 1-1, 4.15. Between the two teams, he pitched 116 2/3 innings and struck out 169 batters.

In 2023, he made 17 starts for Tulsa, going 5-3, 4.03. On July 28th, he was included in a major trade, heading to the Chicago White Sox alongside Jordan Leasure and Trayce Thompson in return for veterans Lance Lynn and Joe Kelly. He finished the season with the Birmingham Barons of the Southern League, going 3-0, 4.22 in 4 starts, then pitched in AAA for the first time, with the Charlotte Knights of the International League, where he was 1-2, 4.58 in 4 more starts. Overall, his record for the season was 9-5, 4.08 in 25 games, all starts, with 139 strikeouts in 114 2/3 innings.

He began 2024 back with Charlotte, making 2 starts and pitching 7 innings, before getting the call to Chicago. In his debut on April 15th, he started for the White Sox against the Kansas City Royals, going 5 innings and giving up 2 runs. He was charged with a 2-0 loss as these were the only two runs of the game.
