Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Jordan Leasure was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 14th round of the 2021 amateur draft out of the University of Tampa where he spent four seasons, including the pandemic-shortened 2020 season. In 2021, he put up an ERA of 0.94 in 17 games, all in relief, then pitched in the Appalachian League, which had just become a summer collegiate league that year, putting up an ERA of 1.29 while waiting for the draft.

He made his professional debut in 2021 with the ACL Dodgers, then moved up to the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes after four games. His combined ERA for the two teams was 5.23 in 10 1/3 innings. In 2022, he split the season between the Great Lakes Loons of the Midwest League and the Tulsa Drillers of the Texas League, combining to go 2-2, 3.38 in49 relief appearances, with 7 saves. He struck out an impressive 84 batters in 58 2/3 innings. In 2023, he started the season back in Tulsa and after 29 games was 2-2, 3.09 with 9 saves. On July 28th, he was included in a trade that saw OF Trayce Thompson and fellow pitching prospect Nick Nastrini being sent to the Chicago White Sox along with him, in return for veteran Ps Lance Lynn and Joe Kelly. He moved over to the Charlotte Knights of the AAA International League for the rest of the season, going 0-2, 6.08 in 15 games, then pitched in the Arizona Fall League.

He made the White Sox's roster out of spring training in 2024 and made his big league debut on March 30th, pitching a scoreless 6th inning in relief of Mike Soroka against the Detroit Tigers. The White Sox held a 4-1 lead when he left the game, but unfortunately the five pitchers who succeeded him on the mound did not do so well and Chicago ended up losing the game, 7-6, in 10 innings.
