Team History[edit]
In 2017, the New Orleans Baby Cakes were created when the New Orleans Zephyrs changed their name. The name "Zephyr" had been imported from Denver, CO and had no particular association with New Orleans, LA, although the new name chosen, meant to honor the city's place as a center of US gastronomy, was found a bit disconcerting by fans.
At the end of the 2018 season, the Miami Marlins filed an application with Minor League Baseball to relocate the franchise to Wichita, KS becoming the Wichita Wind Surge starting in 2020.
