Biographical Information[edit]

Catcher Chris Briones played in the Texas Rangers' chain in 1995-1996 and San Diego Padres' chain in 1998-1999. He also played in independent leagues in 1997 and 2000-2003.

Briones entered the coaching ranks in 2008 as the hitting coach for the Yakima Bears. He was out of baseball for the next three years before resurfacing in the Texas Rangers organization. With the Rangers, Briones served as a professional scout from 2012-2014 and as their Minor League Catching Coordinator from 2015-2018.

In 2019 the Miami Marlins hired him as a defensive coach for the New Orleans Baby Cakes. He was scheduled to be the defensive coach for the Jupiter Hammerheads in 2020 before the season was canceled due to COVID-19. Briones was defensive coach for the Beloit Snappers in 2021 and Beloit Sky Carp in 2022-2023.
