New Haven Nutmegs

The New Haven Nutmegs represented New Haven, CT in the 1891 Eastern Association. Managed by Walt Burnham, they were 4th at 48-39 when they folded in August. OF Dan Lally (.278, .422 SLG) still led the EA with 5 homers, while 1B Sid Farrar batted .312, stole 40 bases and slugged .414. SS Ed Sales hit .307 but played for two other teams that year. A. Gilliland (9-4, 0.89) led the Association in ERA while Dad Clarkson was 16-12 with a 1.54 ERA.

The Nutmegs returned to the loop, now the Eastern League, in 1892 and went 20-17. They again folded, this time just shy of the first half's completion. Overall, in winning percentage, they were in third place at .541 (20-17) behind manager/2B Dan Shannon (.244). Sandy Griffin hit .302 and doubled 15 times in 38 contests. Henry Fournier went 13-6 with a 1.88 ERA for the team; he would go 17-16 for the Buffalo Bisons and Syracuse Stars/Utica Stars for a EL-high 30 wins.
