Biographical Information[edit]

Mykola Taran led the 2000 B-Level European Championship in home runs; his Ukrainian national team won to get a spot in the 2001 European Championship. [1] In the 2001 Euros, he was the main DH for Ukraine. He was 1 for 3 against Alexei Valialine in their opener against Russia and finished the event 3-for-13 with a double and a run; he had one putout and one assist. [2]

In the 2005 European Championship, he started at 1B for Ukraine. He fielded .952 and hit .320/.400/.320 with 4 RBI and 2 runs in 7 games. He led the team in hits (8, by 3), walks (4, tied with Evgen Blizniuk and Artem Palamarchuk) and RBI (double Oleksandr Mamontov, the only other player with more than one). [3]
