Biographical Information[edit]
Oleksandr Mamontov batted .217/.280/.304 for the Ukrainian national team in the 2005 European Championship; their starting shortstop, he made 9 errors in 8 games and fielded .809. His two doubles tied Evgen Blizniuk and Oleksandr Trofimenko for the team lead in extra-base hits and his two RBI were second to Mykola Taran's 4. He hit .158/.238/.158 and fielded .927 as the main Ukrainian second baseman in the 2007 European Championship. In the 2008 European Championship Qualifiers, Mamontov batted .304/.304/.348 and scored 9 runs. He led the Trnava qualifier in runs scored, helping the Ukraine win a spot in the 2010 European Championship.
