Biographical Information[edit]
Artem Palamarchuk is a Ukrainian catcher who attended the MLB European Academy.
In the 2005 European Championship, he was Ukraine's main catcher (fielding .974) and also saw regular action in the outfield (8 PO). He batted .192/.300/.192; his 3 runs tied Evgen Blizniuk for the team lead and his 4 walks tied Blizniuk and Mykola Taran for the most on the squad. He had the big hit for Ukraine in the 2007 European Championship. Down 3-1 in the bottom of the 9th against the rival Russian national team, Palamarchuk came up with the bases loaded and two outs. Artem then delivered a 2-run double to tie the game. In the 11th, he hit the game-winning sacrifice fly off future Twins minor leaguer Andrei Lobanov.
Palamarchuk hit .261/.333/.304 in the event, leading the Ukraine in average, slugging and RBI (3). He fell to .222/.241/.222 in the 2008 European Championship Qualifiers but tied for the Trnava event lead with 6 RBI.
