Biographical Information[edit]

Min-seok Jang played in the KBO for 17 years.

Jang was drafted by the Hyundai Unicorns in the first round of the 2001 KBO draft as a pitcher, and he stayed in the minors for his first seven seasons; he only pitched 4 games combined with the big club. He also missed two seasons due to military service. He was turned into a batter in 2008, and he went 0-for-4 in that season and 5-for-25 in 2009. He broke out in 2010 as the starting center fielder, and he hit .283/.343/.372 with 41 steals and 10 triples. He led the league in triples, and he was 3rd in steals (25 behind Dae-hyung Lee). Jang slumped to .242/.290/.313 in 2011, then he collected 32 steals with a .246/.315/.350 batting line in 2012. He was 3rd in steals, tied with Joo-chan Kim.

The Busan native recorded a .242/.307/.314 batting line with 20 steals in 2013, and he was traded to the Doosan Bears for Seok-min Yoon. He struggled in 2014 as his batting line fell to .200/.243/.286, and he had a .189/.290/.226 batting line in 2015. The Hanwha Eagles then selected him in the second draft, and he hit .229/.285/.307 in 2016. Jang had a .278/.311/.318 batting line in 2017, but he stayed in the minors for the entire 2018 season then he announced his retirement.

Overall, Jang hit .251/.308/.328 with 535 hits and 16 homers in 10 seasons in the KBO.
