Biographical Information[edit]

After graduating from Northeastern State University in 1993, Mike Steed embarked on a long and varied career as a baseball coach working with youth, college, and professional players. The following is an outline of his career focusing upon his collegiate and professional positions. Sources don't always agree on dates so some of this is a best guess. His work with youth baseball groups fills the gaps in this outline and is detailed further in the links below.

The Border Cats didn't actually play in 2020-2022 due to COVID-19 and border restrictions on travel between Canada and the United States.

Professional Scouting & Coaching

The Atlanta Braves hired Steed as a pitching coach for the Augusta GreenJackets in 2022. He moved up to the Rome Braves in 2023 where his pitching staff tallied 1,187 strikeouts and turned in Rome’s first nine inning no-hitter since 2005. Steed was the pitching coach for the Rome Emperors in 2024.
