Biographical Information[edit]
Mike Kinnison has coached one national champion.
Kinnison hit .343 in 1978, when Delta State finished second at the 1978 Division II College World Series. He coached at Lee Academy (1979-1981), Jackson Prep (1982-1992) and Madison Central (1993), going 292-83 as a high school coach. From 1994-1996, he was an assistant at Delta State, then became head coach in 1997. He went 590-166 after 13 years, taking the team to the 2001 Division II College World Series, 2002 Division II College World Series, 2004 Division II College World Series and 2005 Division II College World Series. In 2004, Delta State won it all for the first time ever, giving Kinnison National Coach of the Year honors. He has coached Jud Thigpen, Dusty Hughes and Brent Leach.
