Biographical Information[edit]
Mike Hickey played in the minor leagues and CPBL.
Hickey was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the 12th round of the 1992 Amateur Draft, and he hit .246/.295/.281 in 15 games in his first season for the Bellingham Mariners. He had a .286/.377/.388 batting line in 1993 with the Appleton Foxes, and he crushed 10 homers with a .281/.373/.419 batting line for the Riverside Pilots in 1994. His 90 RBI led the Mariners chain, three ahead of Scott Bryant (Alex Rodriguez was 4th with 84). He was also 5th in the California League in that department.
Hickey's batting line was .262/.353/.360 for the Port City Roosters in 1995, and he hit .255/.396/.348 for the Roosters in 1996. He also played 26 games for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, with a .329/.468/.412 line there. He drew 81 walks in 101 contests that year, third in the Seattle system. He became a free agent after the 1996 season, and he signed with the independent Winnipeg Goldeyes in 1997; he recorded a .306/.416/.471 batting line. The Sinon Bulls of the CPBL signed him in 1999, and he played 28 games with a .304/.371/.500 batting line. He also hit .345/.437/.448 for the St. Paul Saints that summer, and he had a .271/.340/.292 batting line with the Newark Bears in 2000. In 578 games as a pro, he had hit .283/.383/.399 with 324 walks, 310 runs and 311 RBI; he played all four infield positions, as well as the outfield and pitcher, during his career.
