Biographical Information[edit]

Infielder Mike Goff was selected by the Boston Red Sox in the 21st round of the 1984 amateur draft and made his pro debut that summer with the Elmira Pioneers. With the club, he hit .296 with 12 home runs and was named the team's MVP. He played in the minors until 1988, when his career was ended by a back injury.

From 1989 to 1991, Goff was an assistant coach at the University of South Alabama. In 1992, he was a coach for the Jacksonville Suns. He went on to manage the Bellingham Mariners in 1993 and 1994 and the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in 1995 and 1996. From 1997 to 2005, he was the Mariners' coordinator of instruction for the minor league system.

From August 2005 until July 2007, Goff was the Seattle Mariners first base coach. When bench coach John McLaren became manager, Goff became the bench coach. Goff was named manager of the Chattanooga Lookouts for 2008.

On May 18, 2015, he returned to the major league ranks as bench coach of the Miami Marlins under newly-appointed manager Dan Jennings. It was a particularly important position given Jennings had no prior professional managerial or coaching experience, and he was hired at Jennings' insistence.

From 2016-2021 Goff worked as a high school coach, including a stint at Daphne High School beginning in 2018. He was named assistant coach at Arizona State University for 2022 under newly hired head coach Willie Bloomquist.
