Biographical information[edit]

Mike Abate was a minor league outfielder who played in the Seattle Mariners organization in 1999 and 2000 and in the independent Northern League East in 2001. He was taken by the Mariners in the 51st round of the 1996 amateur draft.

He began his career with the Everett AquaSox in 1999, hitting .254 with five home runs and 23 RBI in 57 games. The next year, he hit .250 in 55 games split between the AZL Mariners (seven games), Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (24 games) and Lancaster JetHawks (24 games). He played for the New Jersey Jackals in 2001, hitting .178 in 13 games.

Overall, he hit .244 in 125 minor league games.
