Biographical Information[edit]

Miguel Puello allowed 16 hits and 9 runs (8 earned) in 8 innings for Colombia in the 2013 U-18 Baseball World Cup. [1] He starred for the Colombian national team in the 2016 South American Championship. Against Bolivia, he fanned 15 in a 8-inning complete game shutout, allowing only two hits (to Brian Sossa and Gabriel Padilla) and one walk (to Diego Aguilar). He got the nod in the 3rd/4th place game and was again dominant, holding Peru to two hits (by Susumu Yoza and Jorge Tokumura) in seven innings in a mercy rule shutout, though he walked five to three whiffs. He tied Murilo Gouvea and Vitor Souza for the tourney lead in wins, led in ERA and led in strikeouts (in the round-robin phase, the next hurlers had barely half as many as Randy Consuegra, Ezequiel Cufré and Leandro Juárez were all at 8).
