Team History[edit]
In 1971, the Miami Marlins became the Miami Orioles after being bought by the Baltimore Orioles, who had been the team's parent club for the previous five years. After the Orioles ended their affiliation in 1982, the team reverted to the Miami Marlins name as an independent team.
