Biographical Information[edit]

Maycol Cockborn has been on the Honduran national team.

He debuted in the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games Central American Qualifier, starting at shortstop and hitting leadoff in their opener. He was retired by Nicaragua's Ronald Medrano his first time up. His first hit was a triple off Carlos Polanco of Guatemala. He scored three runs that game. For the event, he hit .278/.458/.359 with two steals in two tries and seven runs in five contests, fielding .846. He tied Sandy Bermúdez for 3rd in runs, tied for 6th in hits (5), tied for 8th in walks (3), tied Juan Montes for the most times plunked (3), tied for 7th in total bases (7), was 3rd in steals, was second in assists (18, one behind Luis Samayoa) and tied Manrique Mora for the most errors (4). He was named the event's All-Star shortstop, joining Lombardo Padilla as the two Hondurans so honored. [1]

Honduras did well enough to advance to the 2023 Pan American Games Qualifier. He didn't fare as well against the tougher competition, going 1-for-11 with a HBP and one steal in two tries, while fielding .889. His hit came off Luis Machuca of champion Panama. He was 4th in assists (10) and tied for 2nd in errors (2, two behind Eduardo Thomas Jr.). [2]
