Biographical Information[edit]

Lombardo Padilla has been on the Honduran national team alongside his brother Jose.

In the 2017 Central American Games, he had three hits against Costa Rica in Honduras's lone win; he finished the tournament at .375/.474/.500 with four runs and two RBI in five games. He led Honduras in average (.062 ahead of Fred Morris) and almost definitely in slugging, OBP and OPS as well. [1] He was even better in the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games Central American Qualifier, starring at third base. In their opening loss to champion Nicaragua, his single off Ronald Medrano prevented a no-hitter. The next game, he hit a grand slam off Guatemala's Diego Amado. He followed with a four-hit game against Costa Rica and had two more against El Salvador. In the title match against Nicaragua, he had one of Honduras's five hits in a loss. He finished at .409/.409/.591 with eight RBI in five games, while handling 18 chances error-free at the hot corner. He tied Kevin Reyes for the most hits (9) in the event, tied Elián Miranda for second in RBI (3 behind Isaac Benard), tied Miranda for the most total bases (13), was 4th in average (between Juan Montes and Manuel Ascanio) and ranked third in slugging (after Miranda and Benard). He was named the All-Star third baseman (beating out former major leaguer Cheslor Cuthbert among others) and the MVP. [2]

Padilla was not as effective in the 2023 Pan American Games Qualifier, going 0 for 8 with a hit-by-pitch (from Luis Machuca) and making one error in four chances. [3]
