Biographical Information[edit]

Maurizio Andretta has pitched in the Serie A1 and for the Italian national team.

Andretta allowed 15 hits, 4 walks and 9 runs (6 earned) in 6 innings in the 2015 U-18 Baseball World Cup, fanning five. [1] In 2016, he combined with Michele Pomponi, Donny Breek, Yoan Antonac, Niklas Rimmel, Darryl Jamoena and Nick Keur on a no-hitter for the European All-Stars against Puerto Rico in a 2016 tournament in the US. [2] After spending some time in college ball in the US [3], he made his Serie A1 debut in 2019, going 0-1 with a 10.61 ERA and 2.52 WHIP for Castenaso.

In the 2021 U23 European Championship, he was 1-1 with a 1.11 ERA, beating to Czechia but losing to Germany. He tied for fourth with 12 Ks. [4] He was 2-5 with a 4.80 ERA for Montefiascone in the 2021 Serie A1 and also hit .250/.304/.300. [5] Making Italy's squad for the 2021 European Championship, he pitched once for the Bronze Medalists. He relieved Murilo Gouvêa in the 5th with a 4-1 lead over Croatia. He retired Petar Rumoa, allowed a single to Kruno Gojković, fanned Andrew Jones and allowed a double to Jose Herrera that made it 4-2. Philip Smith singled but Herrera was thrown out at home. He got Andrija Tomić on a grounder to open the 6th then walked Ronnie Krsolovic, after which Filippo Crepaldi succeeded him. [6]
