Biographical Information[edit]
Mexican-Japanese pitcher Masayuki Maruhashi has been on the Salvadoran national team.
He spent much of his childhood in El Salvador and Guatemala then went to high school in Japan and college in the USA. He had a 2.08 ERA at Highland Community College, throwing a fastball in the high 80s and a breaking ball in the mid-50s. [1] Transferring to Clarke University, he did not pitch in two seasons there. [2] Given his Salvadoran connection, he appeared for them in the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games Central American Qualifier. In his lone outing, he relieved Nelson Alfaro in the 6th with a 4-3 deficit versus Honduras. José Francisco Cardona greeted him with a single then Marco Amaya hit into a force. He walked Eduardo Diaz and struck out José Raul Cardona and got Moises Mena on a fly. After El Salvador tied it in the top of the 7th, he walked Maycol Cockborn to open the bottom of the frame. Marcelo Parker relieved and let the inherited runner in, saddling Maruhashi with the loss. [3] He remained with them for the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games but did not get into a game. [4]
