Masaki Oyokawa has pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball.
Oyokawa was drafted by the Hanshin Tigers in the third round of the 2019 NPB draft.[1] He spent his first season in the NPB Farm Leagues. Oyokawa joined the Hanshin bullpen in 2021, and he had a 3.69 ERA in 39 appearances while collecting 10 holds. However, he suffered from injuries, so he only pitched one game in 2022. Oyokawa came back and collected 7 holds with a 2.23 ERA in 33 games in 2023.
The Chiba native then made it onto Japan's roster for the 2023 Asia Professional Baseball Championship. He relieved Yuji Akahoshi in the 5th inning against Chinese Taipei, and he struck out Hsiao-Cheng Lin then Haruka Nemoto replaced him. That was his only appearance in the entire event. Japan beat South Korea in the title game and won Gold.[2]
Oyokawa's repertoire features a fastball that peaks at 95.7 mph, a curveball, a changeup and a slider.[3]
