Haruka Nemoto has pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball.
Nemoto was drafted by the Nippon Ham Fighters in the fifth round of the 2020 NPB draft.[1] He spent his first season in the NPB Farm Leagues. Nemoto joined the rotation in 2022, and he had a 2.52 ERA in 13 games (11 starts). He suffered a left ankle injury in 2023, so he only pitched 5 games with a 2.88 ERA with the big club.
The Hokkaido native then made it onto Japan's roster for the 2023 Asia Professional Baseball Championship. He relieved Masaki Oyokawa in the 6th inning against Chinese Taipei, and he pitched 2 shutout innings with 3 strikeouts to get the win. Nemoto then relieved Tatsuya Imai in the 5th inning against South Korea in the Gold Medal game. He completed 3 shutout innings with 4 strikeouts, and helped Japan beat South Korea to win Gold.[2]
Nemoto's repertoire features a fastball that peaks at 93.2 mph, a curveball, a forkball, a changeup and a slider.[3]
